“ Great ambiance!! A cross between 60's hippie culture, 70's roadhouse and current political malaise. I listened to a great discussion on the current administration, a lecture on past movie culture and a debate on which motorcycle you should buy. The food was outstanding and there is huge assortment of apps, main course and desserts. The service was wonderful. Becky was incredibly attentive, had great suggestions and was on top of the drink orders. Stinky fries have now become my go to cheat food. ”

“ We had a great Mother's Day family lunch at Junkyard Cafe! We went about 3 pm to avoid the brunch crowd, and we were seated right away. We're vegetarian, so my son ordered the kids pizza, but we added mushrooms and peppers because unlike virtually any other kid, he hates plain cheese pizzas. My wife, who was the subject of our celebratory luncheon, enjoyed a New Mexico dinner salad, which she loved, besides the less-than-crispy, fried tortillas. She expounded that tortilla chips would have been a better option for this salad.I ordered the Buddha burger, which came with fries or chips and all the toppings. My pet peeve about veggie burgers is that they shouldn't be soggy or mushy. Most restaurant veggie burgers are just that, especially if they make their own patty. Junkyard makes their own veggie patty, but it is flavourful and decidedly not mushy or soggy. Bravo! I loved it! The fries were way above average, too. Incidentally, I also ordered a side garden salad, which, aside from the balsamic vinegar dressing, was great. I asked if they had balsamic dressing, and the server replied "yes!", but I didn't realize that she meant plain balsamic vinegar--without olive oil, salt and pepper (i.e. a vinaigrette). So besides that little hiccup, my meal was delicious! ”

“ This is a great place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Owners Tony and Evelyn are so nice and inviting. Tony is the head chef, and his food is amazing. Bar tender Heather is so nice. They have special days there, for instance, every 17th of every month, they celebrate St. Patrick's day. He brines his own corned beef. The last Thursday of every month is "Thanksgiving" with Turkey, green bean casserole, and more. The food is all made to order. Full Bar and sports TV in the bar. The decor and menu are designed by Evelyn. It's just an amazing and fun place to have great food and service. ”

Their motto —and mantra, essentially— is written right on the sign out front: “Lighten Up, Life is Short” Of course the food is fabulous, but one cannot discuss this iconic place without first discussing the decor. You’ve heard teachers and parents say ‘you just have to throw everything at the wall with these kids and see what sticks’ Well, at this restaurant, that’s just what they did. The walls, ceiling, courtyard, and interior is a wonderful study in zany, fun, decor. You are greeted by all kinds of stuff. Even the Oxford English dictionary isn’t long enough to describe everything. If you’re here for breakfast, congratulations, you have lots of choices, but they should all begin with a Bloody Mary, and this place has the best. Next, enjoy cinnamon French toast, my favorite, with eggs and bacon and get ready to take some home because it’s an enormous portion. They of course have many other breakfast choices as well. For lunch, you cannot go wrong with their wonderful big buxom burgers, and don’t forget this is not just the only place in town but perhaps the only place in the world where you can get a peanut butter coleslaw burger! Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it! The menu is so extensive and we have tried so many items. If you cannot decide what to order, just get the sampler plate. This review will end up being the size War and Peace by the time I’m done, so let me cut to the chase: this is the most fun restaurant you could possibly go to, it’s great for the kids, and it is fully wheelchair accessible. “ The staff was super friendly from the minute we walked in. Our waitress Trinity was so knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing and so reasonably priced. There was live music playing in the bar and the decor is over the top fun. There’s something to look at in every corner. I would definitely go back to this place because the menu is huge and can’t get much better service than this restaurant. ”
